Mostafa Hosseini

Good evening, Good morning, Good afternoon, wherever you are in the world. Welcome to Daily Confidence for Entrepreneurs. My name is Mostafa Hosseini, I am your host for the show. At Daily Confidence for Entrepreneurs our aim and our goal are to share tips and actionable advice that you could use in running your business on a daily basis. You can run your business with more confidence, with ease and the rest of it.

I’ve got a checklist of 52 things that you can do to boost your confidence. This checklist is available at the link that I’m going to share with you. On our website, if you go to dailyconfidence.show/resources, you get to download that list. There are 52 things on the list that you could try to instantly boost your confidence. Today, I’m talking about how building your team will help you boost your confidence. I’m going to talk about why and how, and the rest of it.

The reason I’m talking about this today is, this quarter and this year, one of my top personal goals is to become better at team building. Become really good at finding people, attracting the right people, working in a team environment, because of the fact that my business is growing at a rate that if I don’t put the right team together at the right time and if I don’t catch up soon enough and fast enough, I’m going to start losing business. It’s going to cost me dearly.

I must improve my team-building skills and become better at it. In the next two to three months. I must make a big leap and in the process reached out to a few people who are really good at team building, and I asked for help and said, “Hey, I know, I understand, and I noticed that you’re really good at this. What do you think I need to do to become better at team building?” They gave me some feedback, which I’m going to share with you and basically take it from there.

What happens with most entrepreneurs is, we get stuck at some level in the business because of the size of the team. The company doesn’t grow past that point. As business owners, we still try to think about the struggle with growing the business. It doesn’t happen because of the fact that we don’t have a big enough team or we don’t have the right team around us and in place.

We keep struggling and sweating over growing the business. It’s just not a pretty place to be in because of the fact that we don’t have the right team around us. We don’t have enough support for growing and scaling. The business becomes very hard and difficult. Both business and the owner hit a ceiling. Once we have the right team around us, it gives us the confidence to grow the business because we have enough support.

Building your Team' will help you boost your confidence Ep.13
Work on becoming a better team player and team builder.

When I hire people, I can delegate the tasks and have them take care of the different parts of the business and that opens up mental space in my head. I can focus on what is important for me. Hence, that helps me boost my business.

Here are some of the myths, some of the issues, and some of the inner negative talk that is stopping business owners from building a team. Hence, stopping them from growing the business.

Here are the fears.  I will just do it myself. That’s one of the things that I hear a lot of business owners say to themselves, I’ll just do it myself.

By the way, if you’re watching and listening to this, if you tag a friend that might benefit from this topic, if you comment on the chat on whatever platform you’re watching or listening to or if you ask questions during the show, you will qualify for the giveaways.

The giveaway today is a 20-minute coaching session with myself. We could tackle any issue about marketing or business and or confidence while running your business. We will  get on a Zoom call or on the phone, and we’ll run a coaching session now.

  1. I’ll just do it myself.
  2. Second, I will save money by doing it myself. I need to save that money. That’s a big and huge block for many small business owners.
  3. I’m going to train this person and they’re going to leave and work somewhere else. That’s a fear.
  4. Last, I hear this all the time, it is impossible to find the right people. I hear that all the time, which is farther from the truth. There is a bunch of other stuff around it.

Once we have the right team around us, it gives us the confidence to grow the business because we have enough support.”

These thought processes are stopping us from growing our business. For example, I personally have been the biggest bottleneck in my business. My goal this quarter is to get me out of the way. One of my big goals is Mostafa, get the hell out of the way so the business can grow. Bring a team in. Grow, and expand the team so that the business can breathe. So that the business can grow.  I’ll just do it myself. That’s absolutely true. Those are the blocks.

I was working on what is the best way to develop a team-building strategy. My younger brother coached me. He said the fact that most of this thing is about trust. The fact that either we don’t trust ourselves in the first place, or the fact that we don’t trust others. But trusting ourselves is the main place and this is the first place to start at.

Do I trust myself? In which areas do I trust myself and do not trust myself? I am going to post these six questions that I actually went through and I had some good breakthroughs with these questions that helped me kind of identify some of my issues around team building.

1- What is my definition of trust?

It’s good to know that and if I don’t know what trust is, then I’m going to have a hard time describing it. Put down your definition of trust. I didn’t even have a definition and had to think about this. What is actually my definition of trust? I started answering that question.

2- How much do I trust others and why?

Because here’s a fact, if I don’t trust others, I’m going to have a hard time building a team and delegating tasks to them. Why do I trust people and why do I not trust people? Where do I trust myself? We all have places where we trust ourselves.

3- Where do I not trust myself?

Knowing the answer to those questions will help me identify where my weaknesses are. It’s a trust issue. If I don’t trust myself, I don’t trust others and If I don’t trust myself with money, chances are I’m not going to trust others with money either. There are always exceptions. That’s just the overall idea.

Building your Team' will help you boost your confidence Ep.13
If I don't trust others, I'm going to have a hard time building a team. I'm going to have a hard time delegating tasks to them.

4- Where do I trust people? In which area of life do I trust people?

You want to list all the areas and all the things that you do trust people with. If you have delegated tasks to other people, if you have hired somebody for a task, that’s where you list the stuff.

5- Where do I not trust people?

Answering that question will help you identify your weak points around trust with other people and with yourself.

Now that you know what the issues are, then you can work on them. Awareness becomes the very first step of fixing the problem. This is where I don’t trust people and ask why I do not trust people? Why do I not trust myself in this area?

Once you answer those questions, then you will come up with a starting point. It may not be the solution in team building, but it becomes a starting point and finding why. Finding ways to improve your team-building mindset and your team-building approach and mentality, has helped me tremendously. That’s what I’m working on, in the next two to three months to become a better team player and team builder.

Please try these. I’m going to leave these in the show notes for those who are watching or listening later. Come back and let me know how your experience was from answering these questions.

Bring a team in. Grow, and expand the team so that the business can breathe and can grow.”

6 questions to assess team building skills for business owners:

  1. What is my definition of trust?
  2. How much do I trust others? Why?
  3. Where do I trust myself?
  4. Where do I not trust myself?
  5. Where do I trust people?
  6. Where do I not trust people?

These six questions will hopefully help you improve your team building and figure out the trust issue if there are any around the team, other people, and the rest of it.

If you try it and it gives you any results or any aha moments, I would love to hear it. Again, if you comment, put a question on our show live on Facebook, Twitter, and on our podcast platforms on Apple, Spotify, and other places, we will enter your name into the draw for the prize that we give on a weekly basis.
