Hi, Mostafa. I’m just delighted to be here. Thank you for opening your doors to me love.
Mostafa Hosseini 02:34
It is always good to see you. And I know you’re always up to some amazing stuff. You’ve got a beautiful heart and an awesome energy and it’s always good to hang out with you. So it’s a no brainer for me. Jackie, we’re about are you?
Jackie Lapin 02:52
I’m in Westlake Village, California over the hill from Malibu on the way to Santa Barbara.
Mostafa Hosseini 02:58
Awesome. And what’s the weather like? Right now?
Jackie Lapin 03:01
It’s a little cloudy and overcast. But it’s pretty hot out here. It’s in the 90s. And it’s more like Miami today than it is California.
Mostafa Hosseini 03:11
Okay, interesting. Interesting. So, Jackie, let’s dive into it. What is your story?
Jackie Lapin 03:16
So I started out at the age of 11, saying I wanted to be a sports writer. And that was because I was alone as a child, because we moved to a new area and it was highly unfriendly. And so I needed to pick two things that were really important to me for me to stand out to have a voice because my peer group didn’t want anything to do with me. So I chose the Los Angeles Dodgers and writing. And I put that together and I said, I’m going to be a sports writer at the age of 11. And so I believe that success is the best revenge.
And so at 20, I was at the Associated Press and the Detroit Free Press and on the front pages of the LA Times and 22 I was at the Washington Post, co hosting Dodger dugout and went on from there to have one of the largest sports special events and cable TV PR agencies in America with a world class client lists likeasfasdf Toyota and Avon and T drums and the National Hockey League and the Golf Channel. And the last thing I did was the world web like poker phenomena that I drove with the World Poker Tour. I wrote two books and personal growth realized that my heart really lay with the people that were making the world a better place.
My books were bestsellers. I started promoting them, I realized that I had something that would be really good for those folks. And so I rebranded my company conscious media relations, which is a company that still exists. And we started doing radio podcast tours, we introduce authors and leaders to 9000 radio shows and podcasts at the same time with a minimum guarantee of 30 interviews. About eight or nine years ago some of my clients said to me Can you book me for speaking gigs? We said, We don’t want to do that, but we know where they are. So why don’t we just tell you, and that’s how speaker tunity was born.
Because it was easier for me just to advise people where those leads were, then go out and book them. And of course today and speaker tunity now we’re full service, we have a strategic partner that will do the booking for you. But I didn’t want to do it personally. So speaker tunity was the perfect solution, creating doing the research giving you the leads, I’m a data freak up here. I love putting like things together. And and so we just began accumulating the kind of information that really shaves the time for for folks. And that’s how we got to where we are today.
Mostafa Hosseini 05:46
Love it so what do you bottom a great story love and how you guys got started a lovin you gotta feature to 22 on different magazines, and, and you are a go getter and a go giver. And I like that about you. And to me, it seems like you never give up. And that’s another thing. I like that about you. So what do you do? The I know you already touched on it. What do you do these days specifically? And who do you serve?
Jackie Lapin 06:20
Well, we serve authors, leaders, experts, coaches, and entrepreneurs that need to get in front of an audience to grow a business. That’s as simple as it is. And if you’re not doing it, you should be doing it. Because it’s the fastest and the easiest. And the best way to get clients quickly, so that you’re not killing yourself doing it one on one. And those stages include virtual stages and life stages and hybrid stages. So if you say I don’t want to leave my house, there’s plenty for you. If you say I want to get back out on stages, there’s lots of them, too.
So what we did was we curated individual directories. Now you want a regional directory, we’ve got 75 in the US and Canada. That gives you all the meetings, venues and associations in your neighborhood, you want a specialty directory, okay? You want all the Women’s Business meetings all across North America, or the country, the spiritual centers, or parenting meetings, we got 60 different specialties for you. You want to have podcasts or radio shows?
Well, we’ve got one for life enhancing, we’ve got one for b2b, you want virtual summits, we’ve got that for you, too. But we’re really excited also about the thing that we’re launching right now, which is conference connections. And conference connections is your immediate direct connection to 3000 conferences every single month.
And, and we’ve made it really simple, you can tell which ones are live and virtual, which ones are, you know, we’ll pay you some of them, we don’t know. But we’ve indicated if we do, and we’ve done it in just 4064 different categories or subcategories, so you don’t have to spend a lot of time searching. So our goal is basically to make everything in one place. Now, not only do we do the data for you with the contacts, but we also teach you how to book yourself. We got lots of training programs for that. And we’ll also give you the tools like Speaker One sheets.
And while it’s not fully on the website yet, we’ll help you with your slides. We’ll even help you with your speaker sheet, your beside your speaker sheet, your podcast sheet will help you with your speaker handouts, your book flyers and your lead magnet graphic and design so we’re gonna we’re full service. And once you get the stuff that you need all together, well then we’ve got book for you that will actually go after those leads for you.
Mostafa Hosseini 08:44
Very interesting. That’s because I know a lot of people get like, they get stuck with all that like their speaker watch one sheet and their lead magnets and, and do you also help them set up their their, their, their their talk as well. Actually,
Jackie Lapin 09:02
we pretty much don’t do that that’s the one area we stay out of. And we leave it to other experts to do that, you know, Speaker coaches or people that develop their their platforms with them. But here’s the thing that we’re trying to do and Mustapha we certainly want you as part of this, one of the things we’ve created a membership program where we’ve brought a lot of these together so you don’t have to pick one there one there and one there it’s all housed in one place for one one fee.
But part of the benefits to that is you get access to our resource collective and that is like a yellow pages of people that serve the speaker The speaker in some way shape or fashion training, how to do their you know set up their platform their business like you do getting you know clarity on you know follow up for example, like you just talked about, you can you know you can put yourself in several can agrees, but you’ll be able to find people will be able to find experts that serve any of those areas.
So that’s one of the real good things that we developed when we started our new membership program. Speaker tunity Members Only
Mostafa Hosseini 10:15
love it sounds like a no brainer. But so just to clarify, you do know, or have referral partners who could help people put their put their talk together? Correct. Many
Jackie Lapin 10:28
of them actually, for
Mostafa Hosseini 10:30
sure, for sure. So let’s go to the basics. Why should speakers, authors, leaders, leaders, business owners and entrepreneurs be focused on speaking
Jackie Lapin 10:45
very simply, it is the fastest and the easiest way to for client acquisition. Now, I’m a big believer in internet marketing, but you’re always going to run into trouble, simply because, you know, there’s deliverability issues. You know, sometimes there are, you know, you can’t get enough partners, all of those kinds of things. But if you can do it, that’s great.
However, when you get in front of a captive audience, there is the know like and trust factor, like no other people gravitate to you. And when they hear you, they want more from you. And whether you give them a free offer, or a paid offer, it’s the fastest path to cash. And instead of talking one on one on one, you’re talking to a full room full of people and that room could be 10. Or it could be 2000. There’s one particular speaker trainer that I happen to know who consistently gets 800 People at her events, wouldn’t we all like that. And so, you know, if you’re good at this, you can be talking to a lot of people
Mostafa Hosseini 11:57
love it, I love that hook me up with the 800 people event. And you’re you’re right, it’s, it’s a leverage that we’re talking about, right? We speak for anywhere from five minutes to an hour, or maybe two hours, or maybe you run a workshop for a large group of people, big or small, but it’s leveraged. Like you said, it’s not one on one conversation, you’re speaking to a room of people, whether virtual or in person, and, and you make an offer, people reach out to you book a call and the rest of it.
Jackie Lapin 12:31
Well, and the best part is you don’t have to get that group of people, somebody
Mostafa Hosseini 12:35
else has done that. Oh, yeah. And I’m thinking you can even get paid to do that.
Jackie Lapin 12:41
You can. But on the other hand, there are some that you have to pay to get on. So there are the calls on your full spectrum here. You know, the if you can get paid to get to speak, that is absolutely. Number one, however, you have to understand that a lot of times they don’t let you sell from the stage, you can actually make a lot more money when you do offer from the stage offer for sure.
And then the third one is if you’re going to get on somebody’s stage where you have to pay, you just have to make sure that the numbers make sense, you have to know what your conversion rate is, you have to then evaluate whether the number of people that he or she has, is going to justify the expense that you’re going to put out.
Mostafa Hosseini 13:25
For sure that and that was a great tip there, you got to know your numbers, you got to know your conversions. And in the beginning, if you’re getting started, you do have to pay up in the beginning so that maybe someday somebody’s gonna show up and say, I’m gonna pay you to be on my stage. Those are like professional speakers. And, and you never know, maybe if your topic is good enough, somebody’s gonna show up and pay you right? If they’re interested.
Jackie, let’s talk about the fear of public speaking because I know people would rather die than appear in stages. And I know, I know, it’s a big problem. What’s like, what tips do you have for people to overcome that fear? Well,
Jackie Lapin 14:14
the first and the foremost is, if you still sit out there thinking, Oh, my God, they’re judging me. Oh, they don’t, I don’t look good. You know, they don’t like the way I sound I, et cetera, et cetera, get over yourself. They don’t care. All they really care about is are you going to change their lives? Are you going to make a difference?
Are you going to give them valuable information. So if you stand back before you ever get on stage, and get into the place of service, I’m here to help these people. I am here because they need what I have. I am here because I have to impart this information so I can start them on a journey to salvation, whatever that salvation was. If you stand on stage from that standpoint, 90% of the time, your butterflies are going to go away First and foremost, and then secondly, breathe, breathe before you get on, stay, take it all in.
And then this last tip that I love, I learned this one from Barbara de Angeles, the great speaker, who’s a dear friend. And she said, Alright, so see the light, the information that you’re gifting them coming in through you, into your heart, see it extending out into their hearts, and then letting it go back up to the heavens to educate more people. And if you send that beautiful circle, when you’re standing on stage, I always do that before I go on a stage. I’m putting out my light. And then I walk on stage in that state. It comes you
Mostafa Hosseini 15:45
love it? Yeah. So. So the tips there was to not worry about what other people think, yes. My experience with that is that they are worried about their own stuff. They’re not worried about me and you, they’ve got their own challenges that they’re dealing with. They don’t care about my shoes, and my hair and my dress. It’s like they couldn’t care less. Right?
Like, when was the last time you went out? And you started focusing on someone else’s appearance? Like you’re just focused on your own stuff, right? Yes. Love is the tip about calming down, it’s like, one thing I do is I, I tried to loosen up my shoulders every time I realized that I’m a little tense. And as soon as I loosen up my shoulder and my neck, I kind of calm down, and then I could talk a lot easier. And and, and when I talk in a lower tone of voice, it calms me down, and I’m able to connect with my audience a lot easier, and better.
Great tips there. So how does speaker tunity help business owners and leaders and authors get booked faster?
Jackie Lapin 17:00
Well, simply, you know, if you let’s say you start with a membership program, that’s the easiest. And the simplest way to do that. You can pick if you want conference connections, or if you want radio and you know radio on podcast, you can pick summits, or you can pick just an array of speaking opportunities around North America. Really, that’s for that one’s for a transformational leader, you can pick any one of those five, and, and then you know, it will, you’ll start getting fed leads all the time.
So every other week, you’re gonna get new leads for us, or if it’s Summit, you’re gonna get the very first day of a month, or if it’s conferences, you’re gonna get access instantaneously, to be able to review those conferences, conferences, we’re adding as many as 1000 conferences every single month, and the ones with the deadlines that are already past go off the list. So it’s always freshening. And so those leads are going to be either in your mailbox or at your fingertips on a regular basis.
And you know, and here’s the really cool part about it, we’re talking $47 a month, we’re not talking breaking the bank. Now, you could go and get one of our regional directories, you know, and that’s going to be a little bit more money, that’s going to be like $479. However, if you aren’t part of our Platinum program that comes with our Platinum program. So you can basically start with our initial program, experiment, see what works, see what you like.
And you know, you can always move up as you see different things you want, or our alternatives, you can come in and just get things ala carte. We always want to have a mix and match philosophy for people. But if you don’t want to make the choices, just go into the membership program, we’ll keep helping you. And the nice part about us is we have somebody who’s available and customer service all the time. The folks at speaker tunity.com And And here’s something people always ask about, what about your directories? What are the, you know how often you update them? Well, we actually update them annually or via also, we’re always updating them.
I mean, there’s how we find new information, we just did all the women because they all changed. But we know you got to find stuff out of date, because when we have 200,000 leads in our database, which we do not everything’s going to be updated people change without us knowing. So our policy is you just send an email to updates at speaker tunity.com. And the team will get you the newest information we considered and the people in our community, our partners, we’re not going to ever let you get stuck there with something that’s useless.
So it’s a relationship, just let us know and we’ll fix it or we’ll help you. And I think that’s one of the reasons we have the reputation that we have over the last seven years of always being there to support our folks and you got a question or an issue. You You know, there’s there’s a bot on everything that will say, How can I help you?
Mostafa Hosseini 20:06
For sure. So, for $47 a month, people get access to the list of all the events and venues and they
Jackie Lapin 20:15
get a choice of the one. And they get it, they now get included in our speaker showcase where Booker’s can find you, they get it, they also get the speaker resource Collective, we were just talking about, and you get part to be part of our community where we’re always pumping in new information, and people can support you, that or other people in the community. Now, if you want more, just move up to our gold or platinum areas, and then you can get more resources, that’ll just give you more things that that can take, you can take advantage of.
For example, in the in our Platinum program unit, you get all five of the subscription products, you get three regional directories, three speaker, Speaker specialty directories, you get our TEDx directory, which talks about the TEDx directory, and, and our, our hot seat, our monthly hot seats and our speaker booking system. So it you know, the higher you go, the more comprehensive the offerings are. And everything that you would get is under $300 a month.
So we just, you know, we keep giving you more when you are ready to move up and and take advantage of those extra resources. So the TEDx directory is really interesting. In today, if you want a TEDx, you have to go to the website and search around and figure out what’s close to you. And it could take you hours. So what we did is we combined all of the information about all the TEDx is in the US and Canada in one directory. And we’ve sorted it by date or by state and province.
So you can see, okay, these are all in neighboring states, the reason being that TEDx prefers people that are local, because they do a coaching a lot of times and rehearsals, and they prefer people local, who are not going to get stuck on airplanes and miss those opportunities. Now, that does not mean they’ll take people from outside they do. If they’re, if yours is a great presentation and fits their theme, they will take you from outside, but you have a higher chance of success if you pick something local to you. And so having a regional directory that breaks it down into regions is going to make your life easier. And it is US and Canada.
Mostafa Hosseini 22:34
Very interesting. Yeah. Cuz I guess one of the biggest things that you help people with is the sheer amount of time that they’re going to have to spend to find these places and apply and is it good? Is it bad? Is it related? Is it not? And the rest of it so you you have everything listed? And and then some? Yeah. Which is timesaving
Jackie Lapin 22:59
is our biggest selling point. And the fact that we do it at an affordable price, you know, I mean, just think what it would cost you to do all this research. And, you know, we just make it so simple for folks. Yeah.
Mostafa Hosseini 23:14
Here’s a question. What is your hourly rate?
Jackie Lapin 23:18
My personal hourly rate is asking
Mostafa Hosseini 23:20
like for if you’re watching or listening, ask yourself, What’s my hourly rate? How much can you do and get for $47? Right? And then what’s the average ticket value for the items that you sell for services or products, instead worth $47 $400 or more to bring in one sale? And the rest is?
Jackie Lapin 23:47
Well, and that’s what we say one sale of anything that we’ve given you is going to validate the the expense that you have, no matter what it is?
Mostafa Hosseini 23:57
Oh, yeah. And it’s when when you show up, it’s all about leverage, quoting the one on one game and talking to a room of people. Right, and establishing your expertise and credibility and, and then some well,
Jackie Lapin 24:14
and I like the fact that we broken down so many different categories. You want women’s business, you know, you want teachers, you want construction people, you want ethnic meetings, you want LGBT meetings, you want faith based meetings, you know, everything is designated, so you’re going to get directly to the audience that you want to talk to
Mostafa Hosseini 24:36
love it. Can men speak at women’s meetings? Sure.
Jackie Lapin 24:40
Now, are you going to get booked? You got less a chance to do that, but you certainly can. I’ve seen many men speakers at women’s meetings.
Mostafa Hosseini 24:51
Okay, so it’s gonna be harder for men to speak fortunately yes,
Jackie Lapin 24:55
they usually like to have they they prefer female over Male Speakers
Mostafa Hosseini 24:59
or That’s racist.
Jackie Lapin 25:04
Sexist? The truth is that the topics that the women are bringing them to a large extent, they more like to
Mostafa Hosseini 25:15
sure, for sure, for sure. I mean, as long as I think as long as the topic appeals to them and their value, I don’t think there would be a problem unless the date like they just totally don’t want and like any man, but let’s not focus on that. Tell us about your conference connections.
Jackie Lapin 25:36
So, so what’s really fun about this is the hardest, the highest volume are in certain areas, we’ve got general business, so if you’re selling anything in that how to improve your business, you know, your branding, your marketing, your you know, up selling whatever, then in the business space, then the next candidate largest category is also business specific businesses. Do you want to talk to the crypto world do you want to talk to the, you know, the landscaping guys do you want to talk to whatever this niche specialty is so so that’s we call industry specific, PR, whatever it might be.
But the other area that I really think is really good is women’s business, we’ve got a lot of women’s business opportunities in there. And then you get into more nuanced nor Nishi kinds of things, personal growth, spirituality, health, and well, lots of health and wellness, lots of health and wellness. And then we’ve got, you know, parenting, you know, if there’s a category of meeting that happens, that there’s an aggregate number of relationships, so we’re looking for areas that there are consistent conferences going on.
And so we’ve designated specific niches for that there’s, there’s obviously an other, but majority of we’re trying to fit into some category that’s identifiable, that makes it very simple for somebody to go and get what you want. Now, here’s a couple other benefits. As I indicated, we indicate live virtual or hybrid, whether paid or whether, you know, and you can download the section that’s unique to your needs to an Excel file.
And then manipulate that. However, we also give you the call for Speaker form, or the contact information to who to contact for this. And so that you can have it all in one place. And we’ll send you a reminder, once a month, by the way, come back and look, see what’s new in your category. So we you know, a lot of people will forget, oh, I’ve got this service. And, oh, I haven’t looked at it in a while, we’re going to remind you to come back, because a month later, there’s going to be new stuff that you haven’t seen from the previous one.
And the last thing is, hey, if you don’t see your category, and you’re interested in them, send me an email, send it to jacket, Speaker tunity.com. And I’ll see if we can go out and do a little bit more research to see what we can find in that area. So we’re hoping that we’re pretty much going to cover almost everything that would be commonly needed by the people in our industry. Love
Mostafa Hosseini 28:21
- If you’re watching or listening. If you have used speaking as a lead generation strategy and to establish your expertise, go ahead and put a comment and say speaking or I have spoken before, or have appeared on a podcast or on stage before and if you have any questions for Jackie. Just put them as a comment and we’ll do our best to answer your questions. Now let’s turn the tables and expose the Mostafa and coach Mostafa here, Jackie, if that’s okay with you?
Sure. So let me give you a little bit of context, and let’s talk about how this speaking thing would apply to me in my business. So my call center specializes in follow ups and helping people and companies to fix their follow up problems. Now, the biggest problem that we solve is the fact that most businesses have a list of prospects and customers that are being ignored while they’re out there spending a lot of time and money to find new customers and leads in the rest of it.
So I’m particularly interested in working and talking to people that run business that runs established businesses that do more than half a million dollars in sales in their high six or seven figures. Now is there a way for me to find events and speaking gigs where I can get in front of this target audience who might be interested in different angles on follow ups and retention? Well,
Jackie Lapin 29:54
you’re going to be looking towards elections like Young Presidents, or CEOs. or some of the bigger, you know, startups. There’s a number of startup organizations. And if that’s almost its own business category. And then when you start looking at conferences, you’re going to be looking at, for example, marketing, you know, assemblage, as a marketing director, high level marketing directors, and CEO organizational conferences.
You can also look at big associations where your ideal client hangs out, would it be, you know, hey, it could be the association of funeral directors, it could be the director of the Association of just trying to think of just something that’s off the top of my head, national directors of nonprofits, you know, wherever your client goes, you’re going to want to find the Association for those. And then you’re going to want to key in on their national conferences.
And see what and some of them, by the way, some have regional conferences as well. So that you wouldn’t necessarily you sometimes you wouldn’t start at the top conference, you might start at their regional conference, and they recommend you to the National Conference. That’s a lot of the way that people get into the in the door with a major, major national association. Does that make some sense on both of those
Mostafa Hosseini 31:39
100% 100%? How many different categories of events do you have on your directory?
Jackie Lapin 31:52
Well, on conferences, it’s about 65. On the city directories, it’s about 150. And, you know, with each different unique, because we have four different categories in the city directories, we have business, which is subdivided into 55, industries, ethnicities, and gender.
Now, it’s probably closer to 100. Net, then we have all the service groups, then we have all the consumer based groups, and then we have all the spiritual, so they are broken down, if you talk about spiritual, it’s going to be you know, by the denominations, and, you know, in, in the comp, you know, it’s just, it’s massively each day, you know, or coordinate, I will tell you that for each of our city directories, we track about 2500 organizations to see which of them have a local chapter in that market.
And then we look for what’s outside of that, that is unique to that market, organic to that market. But we start with a base list of 2500 organizations love
Mostafa Hosseini 33:10
- And then how does your system work? Is this like a web based application where I could do a search and find all different types of events and whatnot, if
Jackie Lapin 33:19
they if the, if you go into conference connections, all of our products are different. If you go into conference connections, you will open to a grid. And there are 20 major categories, you click on the plus that shows that category, it’ll open up the subcategories there. And then you can open the individual conferences in that subcategory.
If you’re talking about cities or specialties, you’re just simply going to download an Excel file that we’ve already pre, you know, pre pre created, and by the way that gets updated every night. based on changes that we make, if you are depict con, podcasts or, or, or are one of our other subscription services, those are going to be emailed to you every other week, a list and it’s a PDF, for example, on Summit, I actually spend the last part of every month calling, you know, emailing all my colleagues and say, Okay, what summits do you have for me, and then I put it into, you know, the tip sheet that goes out on the first day of every month.
So the products are different based on how we’ve collected the data and how we present the data. So it just and if you were to get into the membership program, you just get it you know, you get if you get to the high level, you guys get it all, but it’s going to be individualized.
Mostafa Hosseini 34:47
Very nice. Love it. So there are conferences to go after associations to go after, where people hang out and I think we could go scroll through the list and identify a Where we should talk now, if if someone has no clue who their target cars customers are, and where they hang out, does do you have resources to help them identify that and fix that issue.
Jackie Lapin 35:14
So the best thing to do is set a meeting with my colleague Kelly O’Hara. And you can do that by just, you know, saying, you know, go to Kelly at speaker tunity.com is ke ll E Y. At speaker tunity.com, set a meeting with Kelly, and she will help you define it and figure out exactly what products are going to work for you.
Get your audience, figure out what the pitch is, and then really help go you know, what, to which audience would be best for you. You know, she, that’s her job to sit there and make sure that you get what you need.
Mostafa Hosseini 35:56
Love it. Love it. Jackie, let’s talk about what the process looks like. Let’s say I sign up today. And I become a member of speaker tunity. Right? And then let’s say that I’m looking for a podcast or a conference or an association. What happens then do I like? Do I like click on their name and send them an email saying I’m awesome. Here’s the topic, you should have me on your stage? Or what what does it process Alright,
Jackie Lapin 36:24
so let’s talk about two or three different things. If you want to pitch yourself to podcast. Yes, there’s a name and an email for there for you there. But here’s what you should have, you should either have a detailed proposal letter pitch letter that tells a little of your story, how you serve people, what problem you solve, what’s unique about you, you know, what’s the hook essentially, and then a body of what your credentials are, why you why you’re the expert on what you do.
And then lastly, what you’re going to speak about, even maybe with some bullet points as your audience is going to learn. Now you can send that you could also send a podcast introductory sheet, that’s one page that has a bio that speaks to the problem you solve in the world, and why you’re a great guest for five topics that you speak on, and then a couple of good testimonials. Now we’ll help you create that over it speaker tunity.
So you can either send the pitch letter, or the podcast sheet, or you can combine the two and add it as an as an attachment. Now, when you’re going to pitch yourself for speaking, then you really should have a speaker, one sheet, which is a two pager. And it has the same things we were talking about on the front, but on the back. And you don’t put the topics on the back, you put three detailed presentations. I speak on this, I speak on this, I speak on this.
And will also tell you in the form, you pick a template, you choose a colors, and you fill in the form, you don’t even have to think about what to give us we’ll tell you exactly what to give us and what form do all that and you’ll have a great two pager that showcases you. And when you send to a speaker Booker, you don’t want to send on a page and a half like you would with a podcast host, you want to send simply about five or six paragraphs. And you say basically, this is why I would think I would be good for your audience.
This is what I speak on, would you please consider me essentially, here’s my speaker, one sheet, here’s a little video on me. And it should only be three to five minutes, not an hour long presentation, and she the best three to five minutes that you can produce on you. So they see how you present. So that short pitch plus the speaker one sheet should you know put you in really good positioning.
And I’ll say also that if you were to work with book for you virtual assistants, the strategic partner that does the booking for our clients, they’re going to ask you for the same thing. They’re going to want a speaker one sheet, and either they may not ask you for the full pitch letter if you don’t already have one proposal letter, but they’re going to ask you for the elements and then they’re going to craft that proposal letter that’s going that they’re going to be sending to all those Booker’s
Mostafa Hosseini 39:19
love it so if they don’t have it, this these pieces figured out you’re you have resources to help them set up their one sheet and their, their their pitch letter and the one pitch letter are two different animals. Yes,
Jackie Lapin 39:35
yes. And I have a training program. The training program is the art of filling your speaking calendar that says, here’s how to do your speaker one sheet. Here’s how to write the pitch letter. And here’s what you say when you get people on the phone. I also have one for radio podcasts. And by the way, we have one on how to get booked in the corporate marketplace. Now I am not the center of that I’m not the expert but I have an x Who is
Mostafa Hosseini 40:01
love it. So again, if you’re watching or listening, and that, you know, leveraging speaking makes sense to you, and you’re not like scared of you like you’re not dying, thinking about about it, Jackie is the go to go to person for everything speaking related, they have the resources, they have the directories, they have, they even have a partner that will book the, the speaking gigs for you. And a whole bunch of them. Now speaking of training, and in the rest of it, Jackie, tell us about your, your five step webinar workshop and what’s coming up. Okay.
Jackie Lapin 40:41
So it’s called Five steps, five, so I’m sorry, five simple steps to say, you know, this is where five simple steps to secure a steady stream of conference and event stage appearances Sorry, I’m still, I’m still in the middle of COVID. So the brain isn’t working little COVID fog here. So go ahead and grab that five simple steps to secure a steady stream of conference and event stage appearances.
So that it’s a strategy, so that you can make sure that you’re getting the conference stages that you want, so that it isn’t happenstance. And it’s not waiting for people to pick up the phone and call you. This is going to make sure that you are putting things in place to make this happened.
Mostafa Hosseini 41:32
Love it. And when is this happening?
Jackie Lapin 41:34
That is at your leisure, you can go and grab it whenever you want. Got it
Mostafa Hosseini 41:41
as a pre recorded training that you could just log in and take the training on it. And there’s a five step process. I’m sorry, what was that?
Mostafa Hosseini 41:49
It’s a masterclass. Yeah, love it.
Mostafa Hosseini 41:52
So the master cost gang, do you have access to it, click on the link in the comments or in the descriptions of the show. And it will take you there, take the master class. And for 47 bucks a month, you could start getting access to all this stuff, not the full meal deal.
But you know, it makes sense. Hearing in front of an audience, share your message with someone’s audience. And think about this. Someone else is has spent a ton of time money and resources to create an audience. And you could just get access to them and their audience rather quickly and easily. And Jackie has got all the resources for you.
Jackie Lapin 42:37
Well, and I want to just encourage people, if you want to explore come on over to Speaker tunity.com. And we’ve got all of our resources right there. It’s easy for you to kind of wander around and we’ll either help you decide what you need. Show you the membership, show your conferences, it just you know is all there in one place.
Mostafa Hosseini 42:57
Love it. And gang, let me share a tip about this whole fear of speaking. I mean, I run a show, and I probably now do a few podcasts appearance and speaking a week. Now, I wasn’t as confident in the beginning. When I first started, I was scared. When I’m talking in front of a big crowd, I still get scared and I have butterflies and I’m like, Oh, what am I gonna say what’s gonna happen? But then it gets easier when you first you when you do your first few speaking gigs.
And it becomes easier later. And here’s the other piece when you show up on a podcast. It’s usually an interview where they ask you questions and you respond to their questions. Right. And so honestly, it’s not that scary. And you get exposure to a whole bunch of people. And if they know like and trust you and they resonate with your message, they will reach out and you know bookie call or buy your stuff and the rest of it. So do it get us started, you cannot go wrong with it.
Can I share one more? Tip? Jackie? Yeah. What we do is we grab a copy of all of our interviews, and we share snippets of interviews that I’ve done on all of our social media channels. Right. So that helps me later to establish myself and with the expertise and credibility in my social media platform and share content that I have created with other people. So behind everything that Jackie and her team are doing. There’s a there’s so, so many doors and opportunities that you know, the opportunities are just endless.
Jackie Lapin 44:40
Well, if I can say so, you just made an important point, a Mustapha, that. I find that if you give people you know, a set established podcast list of questions, that’s what we always do with our clients that you start it’s basically the lot of the core Have what you’ll be presenting in a speech anyway. So by the time you’ve done 20, or 30, or 40 of those, by the time you get out on an on a live stage, you have got it down, it’s going to make you a better speaker.
By doing the podcasts, too, when you actually translate over the life stages, I did 100 interviews from my last book. And I gotta tell you, by the time I hit that stage, I was so confident, I knew what I was saying. It just rolled out to me. So it’s a great way to get started.
Mostafa Hosseini 45:32
Love it. Jackie, where can people find more about you and connect with you?
Jackie Lapin 45:38
Well, you can always find me at Jackie at speaker tunity.com. And if you want to set a meeting with me, it’s scheduled dot Jackie lapin.com. But speaker tunity is less place to get started. And and you know, just start there. If you have a little question, Jeff can answer it from the bot?
If you have a bigger question, then he’ll put you on with Kelly and she’ll give you a real walkthrough. So we’re here to be of service and just reach out to me if you want to talk to me. Love it.
Mostafa Hosseini 46:10
Jackie, can I ask you some personal questions? Sure. All right. What’s a new thing you have tried recently? Bigger small. Oh, well, the
Jackie Lapin 46:21
new thing was I just been to Nashville for my first time. And I’m a traveler. And it’s one of the last two cities in America that I’ve missed. The other one being Savannah.
Mostafa Hosseini 46:34
National is the name of a city. Nashville. Nashville. Okay, I’m sorry. You’ve been to Nashville. Yeah. Love it. Love it. Love it. Um, what are your top two favorite books of all time?
Jackie Lapin 46:51
I’m actually, I’m a historic novel enthusiast. So one is called raptor by Gary Jane Jennings. And it’s a great mystery. It’s a great novel about the four hundreds in Europe. And it’s really different. And then I love a whole fabulous series on time traveler called The Chronicles of St. Mary’s that I love to listen to on Audible, because it makes me laugh.
Mostafa Hosseini 47:33
Love it. Jackie, what’s one piece of advice that made a massive impact in your life or business?
Jackie Lapin 47:46
I learned that I was not living a conscious life. One of my team said that to me at one point, she says you’re not very conscious, made me delve into the fact that I was less than kind when I was wanting things done my way. Just because I you know, as a female that had to make a, you know, way in the male world for a long time.
And I realized that being kinder and compassionate was a better way. And I worked very hard to be that kind of partner and boss and colleague and friend.
Mostafa Hosseini 48:26
Love it. So be kinder,
Jackie Lapin 48:28
kinder, more compassionate.
Mostafa Hosseini 48:30
Love it. Love it, love it. Back, if you had a Facebook or a Google ad, where everyone on the planet with access to internet could see your ad. What would your message be for people of Earth?
Jackie Lapin 48:49
It would be the golden rule. Treat others as if you if you wish to be treated.
Mostafa Hosseini 49:01
As you wish to be
Jackie Lapin 49:03
treated, be be tolerant and understanding and don’t try to be right.
Mostafa Hosseini 49:12
Treat it. Love it. Love it. Love it. Jackie, this has been an absolutely amazing conversation. You shared a lot of nuggets in value and all a lot of good stuff. Is there anything that you’d like to add that we didn’t get a chance to talk about? Don’t
Jackie Lapin 49:29
hide your light under a bushel. If you have something great, go out and tell the world about it. And here’s one piece of advice. If you think you’re going to get booked just by saying I’m going to get to it this week. You won’t. There’s too many other things on your plate.
So if you’re going to do it yourself, you have to designate at least three hours a week in your calendar, mark it off as if it’s an appointment to actually book yourself or supervise your team or hire somebody else to do it for Are you and supervising commit that to them? It’s not going to happen by happenstance.
Mostafa Hosseini 50:06
Fantastic. That’s a great tip you got to allocate time to be on. That’s your marketing right? That’s your lead generation so once you allocate time to that you’re going to see the rewards and just curious how long does it usually take to Cedar cedar awards from speaking gigs?
Jackie Lapin 50:24
You got to give it three months to really if you’re going to start booking now most of these things are booked for at least three months out. So you know give it the three months and you’ll start seeing the your your speaking engagements three to six months out.
Mostafa Hosseini 50:40
